Jacob has twelve sons.
Joseph and Benjamin, by Rachel
Whom Jacob loves dearly.
Rachel died soon after giving the second son,
Which brought great sorrow to Jacob.
Of all his children, he loves Joseph the best.

Because Joseph’s good, faithful, and thoughtful,
Always did what’s right, while
His older brothers often did very wrong acts,
Of which Joseph sometimes told their father,
Which made them even angrier at him,
Besides the favor, Jacob showed Joseph.

Jacob gave Joseph a robe of bright color,
A special mark of Jacob’s favoritism,
Which made his older brothers envious of him;
What’s more,
Joseph also told his brothers,
Of his two unique dreams.

We were out in the field binding sheaves,
Suddenly my sheaf stood up, and
All your sheaves came around it and bowed down to my sheaf.
Do you suppose, that the dream means
That you will sometimes rule over us, …
They said scornfully.

A poet, like a bluejay trying to make you happy, I can make it if you see me every day, and you talk to me as you wish, I'd love to sing to respond to the voice
