After receiving the blessing from Isaac,
Esau hated Jacob and tried to harm him.
In order to avoid Esau’s anger,
Rebekah suggested Jacob go to his uncle, Laban
Rebekah’s brother, in Haran,
So Jacob out of the home took a long journey north.
On the way, one night,
When he was sleeping, a wonderful dream occurred;
He saw stairs leading up to heaven,
Angels coming down and going up upon,
And he saw the Lord God standing,
And said to him,
I am the Lord, the God of Abraham, and Isaac,
And I will be your God, too …
In your family, all the world shall receive a blessing,
And I am with you in your journey …
I will never leave you,
And I will surely keep my promise to you.
Jacob awakened from his sleep in the morning,
Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it,
I thought I was all alone, but God has been with me.
Jacob took the stone on which his head had rested,
He set it up as a pillar,
And poured oil on it as an offering to…
