Joseph was sold to a man, named Potiphar, as a slave,
An officer in the army of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
Joseph, a beautiful boy, cheerful and willing in his spirit,
Able in all that he undertook.
As time went on, a slave in name, but in reality,
The master of all the family’s affairs, ruler over fellow servants.
He always did the right thing,
He wouldn’t listen to the wrong voice,
Which Potiphar’s wife asked him to do,
So he was set up, by the woman,
Put into a dark prison, among wicked people.
But Joseph had faith in God.
That at some time all would come out right,
So even in the prison, he’s cheerful, kind, helpful,
As he had always been.
Joseph did right, and served God,
And God blessed Joseph in everything.
In a little while, he was placed in charge of all his fellow prisoners.
One day, two men were sent there by the king of Egypt,
One, the king’s chief butler, who served the king with wine,
